Feeling Feminine

It's New Year's Eve!!!! Tonight I'll be bringing in the New Year at church. I was feeling like dressing a bit more feminine today so I started my outfit off with my beige sheer skirt. I went through several top options before deciding to go with this Forever 21 dress. I added my H&M blazer and Viola! lol I wanted to wear this Nila Anthony Bag so I kept my jewelry in a gold tone to compliment the hardware on the bag.

You Look Like a Giraffe :)

So I have a friend that early on in our friendship he greeted me one day with "you look like a giraffe", and I wasn't even wearing this dress. lol So when I saw this dress I had to get it for his comment but also mainly because giraffes are my favorite animal. I bought this maxi dress on sale at H&M over the summer. (This dress is about a size or two bigger than what i would normally purchase from H&M) I love how the dress is higher in the front than in the back, being tall maxi dresses are not always your friend. Anyways I spent some time out at my dads house and wanted something easy to throw on. I decided to layer to of my favorite DIY necklaces and keep the rest of my jewelry in the same tone.

Neon Leopard

While looking in my closet this morning I remembered a picture I saw on Instagram and thought I definitely have something similar to it. So this was sort of a look for less. The original photo I saw had a Kenzo Sweater and a skirt. I started with this sweatshirt I cropped and cut the sleeves from H&M. I paired it with a high waisted skirt and simple heels. I played up the jewelry but kept it all in a silver tone.

Tribal Harem

Today was another beautiful day in LA. I wanted to wear something lightweight so I wouldn't get too hot. I thought about my Gypsy Junkies jumpsuit, tried it on and thought "mehhh." Well then I eyed my black and white printed tank and i thought how could I pair this with that. I converted my jumpsuit into harem pants. I added my Jessica Simpson gladiator heels and kept my jewelry in an antique gold/brass.

Winter in LA

It is such a nice day in LA today. I wanted to wear a lightweight blazer my Gypsy Junkies blazer was the perfect piece. I paired it with my thrifted DIY Levi's shorts and my American Apparel bodysuit. I wanted to keep the blazer as the focal point so I kept the rest of my outfit pretty monochromatic and my accessories simple. I added the red belt to break up all the black just a bit.

Blues

As most of my outfits usually start off with one piece, today I wanted to wear my denim shirt. I paired my oversized denim men's shirt with my dark skinny jeans and my Sam Edelman heels. I kept all my accessories  in a gold color scheme to match the accent of my heels.

Merry Christmas! God Can

Merry Christmas Lovelies!!!!
I celebrate the birth of Jesus today. I hope your holiday is filled with family, friends and food.

I wanted to wear something festive today. I thought what's more festive on Christmas than Jesus and God. So I'm thankful for God for sending Jesus down to start the new covenant. I paired my God Can shirt with some dark/black jeans from Forever 21 and added this asymmetrical zipper jacket since it's a bit chilly today. I kept my accessories black, silver and pewter.

Turn Down for What?

I was feeling in the party mood this morning when I woke up so I thought why not dress in the mood. This outfit is great for any holiday party. I started with a sequins sweater top my mom gave me and paired it with my high waisted mini from H&M. The skirt is quite short as you can see so I added some opaque printed tops. To finish the outfit I love these Forever 21 heels as they add a bit of surprise as you walk away.

My hair is in a simple high bun with a bit of texture from my Bantu Knot Out. I did a semi smokey eye with a dark blue shimmer eye shadow from Wet n Wild and a winged liner.

Armani at Christams

I wanted to be festive for church, it being the last Sunday before Christmas. I found this Emporio Armani jacket at the Council of Jewish Women Thrift Store and had to have it. I bought it over the summer so it was extremely too hot to wear it. I wanted to keep the rest of my outfit simple and classy. I paired it a sweater dress from Arden B and my black Aldo pumps. To finish the look off I opted for vintage black and gold accessories.

I kept my make up simple with a bit of shimmer and a simple eyeliner. My Bantu Knot Out is a few days old now so I pulled it up in an asymmetric curly puff.

Hair How To: Dry Bantu Knot Out

Hello lovelies! I decided to do a dry Bantu Knot Out the other night, and it turned out great. Please Instagram me if you try this style #swankstylista :)

Step 1: Co-Wash or Shampoo Hair
I used my Suave Naturals Apple Conditioner to Co-Wash my hair. This condition has great slip and with a price tag of $1 I don't have to use it sparingly.

After I co-washed my hair I conditioned it using my Giovanni's Smooth as Silk Conditioner. This is one of my staple products. I love this stuff. While the conditioner was on I finger detangled my hair.

My hair after I co-washed, conditioned and let it t-shirt dry a bit.

Step 2: Blow Dry Hair
To prep my hair for blow drying I split my hair in 4 sections to make it easier to work with. I u used coconut oil, Giovanni's Direct Weightless Leave In and Grapeseed Oil (in that order).

Now time to start blow drying. To blow dry my hair I used the Gold and Hot Elite Hair Dryer on the fine heat setting. Don't want to cause unnecessary damage. To aid in my hair being as straight as possible on the chosen heat setting I used a Denman style brush while blow drying my hair, a comb attachment can also do the same thing.

Here's the final result after blow drying:

Step 3: Set Hair and Step 4:Take Down Hair
The video below shows how I did the Bantu Knots and the take down the next morning. To set my hair for the Bantu Knots I used my favorite Camille Rose Curl Love Moisture Milk.

Leather and Lace

I love all these pieces for different reasons. The blazer I found while on a trip at urban Outfitters. It's the perfect fall/winter blazer as it keeps me warm without needing a jacket. I found this top at the Rose Bowl Flea market and love the button detail on the back. The skirt was a wonderful Goodwill find, who can pass up a leather skirt for $7.99. The studded heels were a recent purchase from H&M. My bag was another thrifting/ vintage purchase while visiting my mom in Dallas. I wanted a femininity with a bit of edge.

Pearls & Plaid

Today I went to an advanced screening of The Wolf of Wall Street. One thing about me, Leonardo DiCaprio is one of my favorite actors and I was not going to miss this film for anything. I jumped at the chance to see an advance screening. The movie is amazing Scorsese, DiCaprio and Jonah Hill made this movie everything. A must see. Let me know if you guys see it and how you like it.
