I'm Back

I've clearly taken a hiatus from blogging. The short and sweet of it... I lost my camera and then became extreme busy. But I'm back now with a different approach of posting content I love and at a pace that I'm comfortable with. Mainly I will be posting about my personal style. I'll be adding more hair posts to discuss the products I'm love what regimens work for my busy schedule and what styles I'm dying to tryout. I hope you all like the new content and I'm glad to be back.

Madagascar in NY

Body Suit American Apparel | Pants Gutanga | Heels BCBG | Jacket TopShop | Clutch Hayden Harnett | Rings H&M | Hand Cuff Forever 21 | Watch Diesel | Short Necklace Dogeared | Long Necklace Vintage
I'm hitting these NY streets in my Madagascar print Gutanga pants. I was contacted by the LA based company to pick my favorite pair of pants and rock them my way. I fell in love with the Madagascar print immediately. The next pair I own, I will definitely go a size up, they fit in the waist but my calves are larger so they are a bit tight. Nonetheless these will be a summer staple for work and play.
Now about this Hayden Harnett Bardot Leather Clutch. I love how it's reversible, I'll probably never wear it on the 'Pessimist' side, but to have the option is always great. The 'Optimist' side lends a bright spot in any negative day for you or someone else that may see it.
How do you rock printed pants or a graphic clutch?

Summer Leather

Jacket TopShop | Shirt Downtown LA | Shorts Thrifted Vintage | Heels Cathy Jean | Bag Vintage Coach | Necklace Dogeared
It's starting to look a lot like summertime here in the city, so I decided to head over near Central Park.   I wanted to finally get to wear my leather thrifted shorts in the warm weather. As my top I'm actually wearing a short jumper, that's a bit too short now. Threw on my favorite jacket and was ready to hit the streets. I kept my accessories minimal as I wanted my shorts and top to be the focal. Needless to say I was comfortable, chic and enjoyed my day.
How do you rock winter fabrics in warmer months?

Thrifty HoG

Last month I went to visit The Thrifty HoG, Hearts of Gold. If you know anything about me you know I love thrifting. So, when I had the opportunity to visit The Thrifty HoG and learn more about it, I was super excited. The Thrifty Hog is a one stop shop with women, mens, children and home goods; all new, very gently used or vintage items.

Upon arriving I was met by the store manager, Richard. He gave me a quick tour and told me all about the store. I have to say this is the most organized thrift store I've ever been in. Each section is sized, so no more hunting through racks and racks just to find 4 items that may fit. Even the shoes are sized, and being a woman with a larger sized shoe that was definitely appreciated.

The Thrifty HoG (TTH) isn't just a great place to go shopping. By shopping here you support an even greater cause, aiding homeless mothers and children. The Hearts of Gold non-profit, founded by Deborah Koenigsberger in 1996, has many efforts to aid in homeless mothers' journey to self sufficiency. They work with the shelters, Freedom House, Nazareth Housing, Nazareth House Harlem and Semiperm HDFC. TTH also funds programs like Homes of Their Own, when they provide household items for mothers transitioning to private residences. Another program, Growth by Learning, provides scholarships for the mothers and youth and teen programs like cultural day trips, tutoring and after-school activities. TTH also employs the mothers and teach them all about the business.

Shopping at the Thrifty HoG not only saves you money but it also is a helping had to those in need.

Plaid and Leather

Jacket TopShop | Shirt Vintage | Jeans CottonOn | Heels Cathy Jean | Bag Vintage Coach | Watch Diesel |  Necklace Downtown LA

What do you get when you pair a $1 shirt with a $30 jacket? This outfit lol. I got this shirt at the $1 Sunday sale at JetRag in Los Angeles and I wear it all the time. I'm still looking for the great thrift stores of NYC. If you know any please let me know!!! Anyways I got this jacket a few weeks back on sale for only $30 from +Topshop. I left my previous faux leather jacket at a hotel while on a business trip last year smh, so this was the perfect replacement. Better late than never, right?

I decided to take my outfit up a notch with this necklace I bought from a shop in DTLa a while ago. I wanted to have my shirt unbottoned but felt a bit too exposed so I added a statement necklace. I really wanted that to be my pop or moment so I kept my other accessories simple.

How do you add a pop to an otherwise simple outfit?
