As the snow keeps falling the days I'm able to wear dresses out of the house are dwindling. Today I layered my tights again with leggings, my thigh high socks, rain boots and took to the snow. I wanted to dress this dress down a bit by pairing them with my rain boots. I added a skinny belt to create a bit more definition at my wait and accessorized with gold jewelry and accents.
I arrived in DC Grand Central terminal and as I waited for my cousin to arrive, I discovered they had a H&M. So of course I went in, Large suitcase and all, to try some things on. I tried this dress on but it was a bit too small :(. Fast forward a few days, the day after Christmas to be exact, I'm in another H&M and find the dress in my size :D. So I just had to take it home, plus it was 50% off the already marked sale price. The long sleeve and sweater material make it a perfect skater dress for F/W. What's your perfect winter dress look like?

Let's talk about the star of this outfit, the shorts. I bought these shorts at +Crossroads Trading Co. before I left for NY for fashion week in September. So needless to say I've had these for 6 months and this is the first time I've worn them. As with most of my unique thrift finds I fell in love with these shorts as soon as I put them on. I love the color and the spike detailing down the side. They're Leather. They're Vintage. They're Great.
To wear shorts in the winter, one must layer, layer and layer some more. Today I layered my nike leggings with a pair of Kushyfoot tights and my Forever 21 socks. And of course on top I layered my 3/4 sleeve Zara sweater with a long sweater from +H&M and my staple winter coat. Would you rock shorts this winter? And if so how? Comment below.
First, let me tell you how much I love this coat. This coat was definitely meant to be. I found this at the Council for Jewish Women Thrift Shop in Los Angeles. I was shopping for a client and this coat caught my eye. I kept telling myself "Focus" and "It's 80 degrees outside, why do you need this coat?" But it seemed like everywhere I went in the store the coat was calling me. So I did the only thing I knew would ease my curiosity, I tried it on. One of two things happens when you try a taunting item on; either it doesn't fit and you no longer think about the item or it fits and you have to have it. So clearly the latter took place. I tried the coat on and was still trying to convince myself I didn't need the coat, I tried it on again and flipped the collar, it was all over at that point.
So today was a bright coat day. I've been feeling so dark since moving to New York because I'm almost always in some variation of black. Today I'm meeting with a few women looking to interview me for their site so it was a perfect day to break the black cycle. How do you infuse color this winter?
Layering Necklaces are my COW (Currently Obsessed With) this month. This will be a new posting on my blog about things that I'm clearly Currently Obsessed With each month.
This month it's these layering necklaces from Forever 21. The other day my cousin contacted me about uping her jewelry game. So of course I went right to work online and finding her some amazing pieces. While searching I came across these sets, which would instantly take any outfit to the next level. Layering necklaces are so in right now and sometimes its hard to find individual pieces that are the right lengths. All of these sets are less than $25, so you can afford to get a few and mix and match them even more.
Thir-tee days of tees continues. Today was a more sporty fall look. I wanted to layer this look for the crazy weather we have been having in LA. One day it's 50 the next 85, craziness lol. So for this outfit I added two lightweight layers and scrunched down my socks with booties. I love these booties They have slits on either side, a chunky heel and were only $40 at Burlington :). As you may have noticed this plaid shirt is my new go to. I wear this shirt ALL the time, as outwear, as an accessory or as just an shirt. Belted, tucked unbuttoned it looks good so many ways lol. Enough about the shirt I think you guys get the point lol. Check out the links below on a few items to help you re-create this look.
